Hi there! Welcome to the Sparkles and Lightning edition of Waiting on Wednesdays, the weekly meme hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine where we all get together and make a point to obsess and fangirl over all the best books.

The Chaos of Stars
Kiersten White
Publisher: Harper Teen
Release Date: September 10, 2013

Isadora’s family is seriously screwed up.
Of course, as the human daughter of Egyptian gods, that pretty much comes with the territory. She’s also stuck with parents who barely notice her, and a house full of relatives who can’t be bothered to remember her name. After all, they are going to be around forever—and she’s a mere mortal.
Isadora’s sick of living a life where she’s only worthy of a passing glance, and when she has the chance to move to San Diego with her brother, she jumps on it. But Isadora’s quickly finding that a “normal” life comes with plenty of its own epic complications—and that there’s no such thing as a clean break when it comes to family. Much as she wants to leave her past behind, she can’t shake the ominous dreams that foretell destruction for her entire family. When it turns out there may be truth in her nightmares, Isadora has to decide whether she can abandon her divine heritage after all.

Well, first things first. The cover, of course! It's really, really pretty. And it's unique, which makes it even better. It's simplistic but that's actually what makes it so darn gorgeous.

Kiersten's books tend to be hit-or-miss with me. I loved Mind Games but only found the Paranormalcy series mildly okay. I'm really hoping The Chaos of Stars is another one for me to love.

I adore mythology, but usually it's not Egyptian gods, so that makes it even cooler. It sounds like Isadora lives a pretty crazy life! I'm not sure I buy into the whole her being human thing yet, but we'll see how that plays out.

  6. Fabulous choice! I'm actually really scared about this book LOL XD As you know, I wasn't crazy about Mind Games.. but I do think this sounds amazing and I am a huge Egyptian Mythology buff! I actually took a class on reading Egyptian Hieroglyphics (freaking hard, btw).

  13. This cover is beautiful. I'm a little wary considering the reviews Mind Games is getting, but I will probably still read this.

  14. YES! I so agree! It's so simple but it's, like, SO PERFECT! And I really loved Mind Games so I'm sooo excited to see what else Kiersten has got brewing in her little writer's pot! I'm not a mythology fan either, so I'm a bit wary but it still sounds AWESOME!

And it's Kiersten White. AND you're "waiting" on it. THIS OFFICIALLY MAKES IT AWESOME.
