Hi guys! What I have today is basically a guest post from Jeff Bryan, author of the absolutely spectacular Songs of Magic books, which seriously is one of my favorite series ever. Plus, I love Jeff. He's adorable.

But before we start, a little bit about Jeff in his own words: J. L. Bryan is the author of the Paranormals series (Jenny Pox, Tommy Nightmare, Alexander Death, and Jenny Plague-Bringer) and the Songs of Magic series (Fairy Metal Thunder, Fairy Blues, Fairystruck, Fairyland, and the new book, Fairyvision). Fairy Metal Thunder is free on Kindle, Nook, Apple, Smashwords, Sony, and KoboJenny Pox is also free on Kindle, Nook, Smashwords, Apple, Sony, and Kobo.  He’s on Twitter and Facebook, and has a website and blog and all that.

One of my favorite things about writing the Songs of Magic series is the freedom to create all kinds of fun, magical, silly, and often pun-based settings and creatures.   To celebrate the release of Fairyvision, the fifth book in the Songs of Magic series, I’ve dreamed up elements of a Songs of Magic board game (which does not actually exist in any form...) and asked some bloggers to share them as guest posts.  Following is the section of the game board that represents the second book, Fairy Blues.  I hope you enjoy!

Thanks so much to Annabelle for hosting this part of the game, and all her support of the fairy books!

Depressed Cypresses: In a low, gloomy, not-very-sunny part of the sugar swamps grow the Depressed Cypresses, miserable moaning trees surrounded by quicksand.  They use their depressed complaining to slow passing travelers, until those travelers to sink into the quicksand and become cypress fertilizer.

Pretty Good Library: In ancient times, the Great Library of Avalon was truly great, the greatest library in the world.  Some of the old library collection survives in a petrified hollow tree known as the Pretty Good Library of Sidhe City.  The modern version may not be a Great Library, but it’s not so bad.
Ghoston: If you travel from Sidhe City to the eastern border of the Hauntlands (which is not recommended—see “The Hauntlands” below), you may pass through a large, strangely empty town, its doors and shutters banging in the breeze, with an odd creaking here and there, and a feeling that someone may be watching from within the dark, silent buildings...that’s Ghoston.

Malarkayland: Every global media empire needs a massive theme park or two!  Located in scenic Dublin, Ireland, Malarkayland is known for having the most expensive miniature golf course on Earth.

Dracula’s Castle: You’ve heard of it, but did you know it holds an ancient, sealed gate into Faerie?  A great place to have a picnic, film a music video, or bring hordes of wicked monsters into the human world.

The Hauntlands: A huge area in the west of Faerie, once known as the Enchanted Forest, where magic has gone sour.  Inhabited by ghosts, ghouls, zombie cows, and evil jack-o’-lanterns, the Hauntlands are a spooky spot for a sinister stroll.

Enter the fairy game giveaway!  One winner will receive an autographed set of the five fairy books, including the newest, Fairyvision (the cover reveal is set for the 18th and is happening at several blogs, including Sparkles and Lightning!).  Follow J. L. Bryan’s blog for more Songs of Magic game posts and more chances to enter!

  3. The books sound great. As soon as I read the blurb for Depressed Cypresses, I knew I wanted to read them. To have a signed set for my bookshelf would be fantastic. Pick me - pick me. LOL Have a great weekend.

  4. I loved fairies and the fey in general, and these books (better yet, signed <3)wouls be a great addition to my library xD

Me and my imaginary unicorn friends called Zelda thank for the giveaway! <333

  5. I absolutely love fairies especially in books! I can't wait to read these books! I love the covers they are so pretty! :)

  6. I think the best place to hang out would defintely be the library even if it is just okay. Then Malarkyland as long as Mr. Malarkay is handing out the dough. But if you can get to the good part of the Sugar Swamp, that's where I'd want to be!

  7. I loved the first book... its amazing... :)

  8. It was an interesting post!! Thanks for the share..
